News travells fast

After this super dramatic crazy weekend I feel that I have to write something about it. Saturday the one of the two days that Honolulu/Waikiki are celebrating Halloween. Everybody is super exited and the party is just getting started and the freaking Tsunami warning alarm sets off!! For me and my friends who have not been here when this happens what to do is confusing. Some are staying kind of ignoring it and some are running to the mountains packing everything they have. I actually found about it over a text, then one minute later a call, and then 4 minutes later I head somebody talking about it on the street. After about 30-40 minutes I actually looked it up myself. The news were totally confusing that night because it said that it was only 1-2 meters waves coming in and that you could hang around in Waikiki but then why was everybody going up to the mountains and the fire trucks going around screaming “leave Waikiki”. My dad from Sweden looked up news from back home and was a better source then the radio or news online. Media has that effect on people and I got that know. Of course if this kind of thing happens again I will take it serious but I will also not let Media ruin my night. Why we trust media is a huge question I like to have the answer to, they should bring correct news but when they don’t know much they just excaudate everything and get people freaked out.

I found this video on YouTube, this is the Tsunami, and yeah if the waves were 5-6 meters evacuating Waikiki would be a good idea, but for this one? Nope.

netflix

Netflix is this awesome online movie website where you pay $8 a month and you get movies, tv shows and documentries any time you want. I have it my self and I love it! So now Netflix has agreed to caption, have subtitles, on all of its shows by the year 2014. Of course it is good, now the people who cant hear can enjoy it but I like the fact that it's not, its better for me so I learn at the same time. Apparently they got sued for not having it so as part of the consent decree, Netflix will pay $755,000 to plaintiffs' lawyers who prosecuted the lawsuit, as well as $40,000 for the decree to be implemented over the next four years. Maybe this is not the biggest news of the year, but it is some news so be glad you know this for 2014.. it will be super important. (heheehehee)

Ipad mini!!!!

Apple will hold an event October 23 in California, and the company is expected to unveil a smaller, cheaper version of its popular iPad. Most observers believe it will be priced under $300, which is a better price for those like myself who cant afford a Ipad.. I could not find much more about this, but at least now we know and we will just wait and see how it works :)

Apple sent this invite to members of the media. The graphics offer few clues as to what the company may announce

Music

We got Itunes, that is usually our music player in our computer right? All the time new things, ideas or upgrades is discovered. This week we will be introduced to a new music source, Xbox music. Microsoft is once again in search of a hit in digital music.  Xbox Music will offer access to a global catalog of about 30 million songs. It will let consumers listen free to any song on computers and tablets running the latest version of its Windows software, as well as on the Xbox console. Microsoft will not initially limit how much music can be streamed, though that could change over time, like it always is. It will be exactly like Spotify, free for a while then they made a premium account but you could still go online and listen to free music, now? Well now you have to have a Spotify account because you can only listen to the songs 5 times or so before you realize you have to buy it for $10 a month.. So my guess, Xbox music, I give it 4 months then it will cost money to have it.

What does Google know about you, really?!

What does Google know about you, and where do they save this information. European privacy regulators warned the company Google to clarify those issues or risk fines or other penalties by early next year. Apparently Larry Page, the chief executive of Google, got letters saying that 27 European data-protection agencies asked the company to modify its global privacy policy that governs dozens of Google online services including the Android mobile phone apps and YouTube videos, just so that we would get at better understanding of what kind of information is being collected.

Last winter Google introduced the privacy policy, and if everybody would read the terms before clicking the "I Agree" button I think that you would be super suprised of what you'r actually saying yes to.  And in keeping with European privacy law, Google said it was collecting the data only if users “opted in.”, by that I mean click "I Agree".

This whole Google, Facebook thing is going to be a war forever, new issues will always come up and they will eather pay the person to be quiet beacuse they can or just make up a new rule.

Tweet debate

During the first presidental the Tweets were going crazy!! Twitter users send record 10.3 million tweets during presidential debate. With their iPads and cell phones, millions of people virtually joined the candidates on the debate stage, analyzing their every word in real time. It is so funny that people gets involved, and that it becomes a debate online beacuse people dont agree with each other of course..

I found some funny comments that people wrote on Twitter:

Even a Swedish girl comments:
Linnéa Sandström ‏-- Romney has a bigger US flag pin than Obama. The debate is over? #debates

Marc Lombardi ‏-- The debate would be much more interesting & informative if a buzzer went off every time an untrue statement was made. #debates

Jim Sterling ‏-- Obama is winning in the "Looking amazingly condescending when the other guy
talks" race. #debates

Are You Italian? ‏-- The debates in my house are much louder. #2012debate

I had to write about this, thought it was really funny!!
